All it took was a swipe to the right. Neither Kristin or Eric would have ever imagined that they would be telling their children they met on an online dating app, but Tinder is how this love story unfolded and Eric & Kristin will be forever grateful of its existence. The conversation started with flirty texting. Pretty typical when you meet on a dating app. They don’t even recall how it came up, but they joked several times about going on an exotic trip together. It was even suggested to just meet at the airport and hop on a plane. What better way to get to know someone than spend a week with them in paradise? All jokes aside, they settled on The Rookwood in Mt. Adams, a perfectly acceptable spot for a first date. Drinks and appetizers turned into the pair still sitting there at closing time. The first date was a hit. Things went so well, Kristin and Eric actually did hop on a plane together to the Dominican Republic less than 5 months after they met. They survived their first trip together, even more in love, and have taken so many together over the years since!
Everyone thought Eric & Kristin would get engaged on their trip to Aruba in 2016, but Kristin knew that was too obvious and Eric would somehow try to throw her off the trail. Little did she know, he would actually succeed in that endeavor. Shortly after they returned from vacation, they went away on an overnight to Indianapolis which started with a “brew bus tour.” Kristin for sure thought this was THE weekend and had even painted her nails in the car on the drive there, just in case. But when she found out they were going on a brewery tour, she texted her best friend that it wasn’t happening that weekend. Her friend joked that maybe he would put the ring in a beer and propose that way. However, a little later they got ready for a nice dinner out, and Eric decided he wanted to take a detour on the walk to dinner in order to take a picture in the Square. When he asked someone to take their picture, he whispered that he would be proposing which led to the best non-professional engagement pictures they could have ever hoped for. She dropped down on one knee, and she said yes. And cried a lot of tears of happiness.
I’ve loved getting to know this couple so much that we actually even joked about me being an honorary bridesmaid the day of the wedding. Their engagement session (see it HERE) was the first time I got to see them interact together in front of my camera and knew immediately I was going to love their wedding day, but it far exceeded my expectations. Over the many months of planning, I’ve truly enjoyed every aspect of being their photographer and now friend. I’m so excited to share their day with you – biggest of congrats to you, Kristin & Eric!! xoxo
