For those that have been following me for a while, you will recognize this sweet bride’s face. Ashley used to be my assistant, and from the moment I met her, I knew she was one of the most beautiful souls I would ever meet. When people say someone is “beautiful inside and out”, hands down these are the truest words anyone could say about Ashley. Her kindness and love for other people, is inspirational to say the least, and her love for life and fun personality easily draws everyone in. On our many car rides together on wedding days, Ashley would talk about the guy she had fallen for, Jordan, and how she knew he was the one from the very beginning. I could only hope that this guy she talked so highly of not only deserved her, but loved and cherished her just as much. Meeting Jordan and seeing them together, I knew right away that he was the real deal and their love was set to last forever. If any two people in the world were meant for each other, these two are it, and seeing their joy in each other is just beautiful.
Jordan’s job took them to Colorado a couple of years ago, and watching their many adventures, camping trips, hikes into the Rockies, their fur baby Lincoln, and eventually their engagement unfold on Instagram has been such an amazing sight to witness. Being the adventurous couple they are, they set out on a trip to Paris, with Ashley’s camera and tripod in tow. Jordan planned to propose on their second day there, but due to some unforeseen weather blocking the sunrise he counted on, he decided to hold off until the moment was perfect. The day before they were set to go home, they got up early hoping for a beautiful sunrise and amazing view of the Eiffel Tower. She set up her camera and tripod to snap a few photos of the two of them together, and just as she was ready to pack up and leave, Jordan talked her into one more photo. Ashley set the timer, ran over to put her arm around him, and he got down on one knee instead – her camera catching the whole thing! They spent the next two days celebrating with champagne and macarons, ready to plan their wedding in the Rockies the following year!
When they asked me to come out and shoot their wedding, I couldn’t have been more honored. It was a beautiful day filled with lots of tears, lots and lots of laugher, and more love than I can even describe. Estes Park Resort in Estes Park, Colorado was the perfect backdrop for their perfect day. It misted rain all day, but Ashley joked that it was her grandfathers, both passed several years ago, telling her they were with her all day. We made our way through Rocky Mountain National Park for portraits, they were married in an outdoor ceremony by the lake at the resort, and then danced the night away with the sunset and sprawling views just outside the windows of the reception.
There are words to express my gratitude for the honor of being your photographer, A & J, and still no words to express my happiness for you (seriously, tears as I write this!)…lots of love to you guys. xoxo
