A Sweet Farewell To My Intern Ashley | Cincinnati Wedding Photographer

Every year, I extend the opportunity to have an aspiring photographer join the team as an intern to learn the ropes of the photography business.  I’ve had some really amazing people come in and out of my company, and, hopefully, when their time is up, they’ve learned a thing or two from me and are kicking ass in their own businesses now. It’s something I plan to continue throughout my career, because I really enjoy teaching (I also do mentoring sessions for those interested!) something I love so much.

Last year, a girl emailed me with the hopes of applying for my internship.  She was ambitious, sweet, funny, and really, REALLY loved photography, even though she was as green as they come.  She had previously taken a course on photography, and it was enough for her to know that this art was her new passion. I was pregnant at the time, so I interviewed her at my house, and at the risk of sounding cliche, I loved her immediately.

Ashley came onto my team in January after coming to a wedding with me (shout out to Katie and Ryan! Woot!) as a trial run and almost instantly asked when she could do more. When my other intern unfortunately quit, Ashley took her wedding dates on top of the ones I had scheduled her for, took every opportunity to learn from me including coming over for Lightroom lessons on late nights after working her full-time job that day, and generally being amazing all around. She’s been making me laugh every weekend since that first one, and has truly become one of my friends.

Why am I giving you Ashley’s life story and experience with KTP? She’s moving to Colorado this month and I’m going to miss her madly. Tomorrow is her last day with me, so I wanted to make sure she got a sweet little farewell here on the blog.  She’s grown so much in the last year, and with the passion she has for photography, she’s going to take Denver by storm.  I have big dreams for her. <3

Aaaaand with that, enjoy the embarrassing photo of her helping me to “test the light” above 🙂

Lots of love & hugs to you Ash!! XOXOXO
