2015 Wedding Photography Internship with Kaleigh Turner Photography!

You know what this means! Yes that’s right….internship time!

Once a year, I open up an opportunity for a new (or eager-to-learn-more) photographer to join my team and learn the ropes of being a wedding photographer.  You get to have fun doing what you love, and I will share the tips and tricks of the trade.  I’m always preaching that what we do as wedding photographers is SO important.  We are providing couple’s with their first family heirloom, photos that will be passed down to their children and their children’s children, from the happiest day of their life! Who wouldn’t want to be a part of that?! Plus, I’m a good time (seriously, I’m a hoot :).  Not only will you get to go with me to weddings where you will learn more about photography and get to network with other amazing wedding vendors, but I’ll have you along to engagement sessions, a few clients meetings to learn how to conduct business away from your camera,  networking events to mingle some of my favorite people in the industry, as well as a chance to be “on set” when I do my next styled fairytale shoot!

You don’t have to know anything about photography, I can teach you, OR you can know some stuff, but maybe just need that last little boost to get out into the wedding photography world.  This internship is UNPAID, and you must be willing to give up a couple Saturdays a month to me in 2015 from May to November (wedding season).  If your Saturdays are more important than this internship, then this isn’t for you (I want to stress this point, as in the past, I’ve had interns who didn’t realize what hard work goes into this job.  The end result and reward is soooo worth it, but it’s still a job, and needs to be taken seriously 🙂

Some things we will cover during the course of the internship:

Camera basics  (aperature, shutter speed, ISO, exposure, white balance, etc.)

Posing

Lighting (real and artificial)

Post processing and workflow

Client interaction

Branding

Marketing

You must have:

Your own equipment (professional model DSLR camera, lenses, flash, etc.), OR if you do not own anything at the moment, you must be okay with purchasing as soon as you are hired

Editing software

Open availability

A passion and drive for photography (Sounds like a given right? When I say passion, I mean crazy, sleep-with-your-camera, takes-pictures-of-everything, can’t-wait-to-learn-more PASSION, because wedding days are HARD WORK.)

A desire to make your passion for photography more than just a hobby…we’re talking career in photography here!

Reliable transportation

Reliability in general (This is the biggest day of someone else’s life and the reputation of my business…showing up and showing up on time is a must).

A personality (because, like I said, I’m pretty fun, and I want you to be able to keep up with me!)

The ability to act quickly under pressure

No pride (There may be times when I need you to run to the car for me 5 times to get something we need, carry my equipment, hold an umbrella over my head in the rain so my gear doesn’t get wet, do the Wobble in the car with me on the way home because they didn’t play it at the reception (and I can’t finish a wedding day without the Wobble), and I need someone okay with those things….see the part about PASSION above :)

Sound like something you’d like to do?! Awesome! To apply, shoot me an email at kaleighaturner@hotmail.com and I’ll send you the application (please check your junk boxes for my reply with application within 24 hours of your inquiry! My replies don’t always end up in inboxes :) ).  I’ll be accepting applications until April 22, 2015.  This is kind of pushing it close to the start of wedding season, as it starts May 1st, so who ever I choose for the spot, just know that you’ll be starting the internship right away! Can’t wait to hear from you!
